X-Ray School @ HZB, Berlin – X-Ray diffraction training exclusive for young ReNewPV scientists

We would like to announce the

X-Ray School @ HZB, Berlin from Monday 16 – Friday 20 March 2026.

The school will take place at Campus Wannsee of Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and will introduce participants to various X-ray diffraction and analysis methods, with a focus on applying them to current research projects. It is primarily intended for young scientists in the ReNewPV network who are beginners in X-ray diffraction.
Topics of the X-ray school are

Basic knowledge of crystallography and X-ray diffraction
X-ray diffraction techniques and measurement methods
Qualitative phase analysis and pattern fitting
Introduction to crystallographic databases
X-ray diffraction under non-ambient conditions

Please note:
–> Attendance on each full day (10:00 am – 4:30 pm) is mandatory.
–> The school will be held entirely in person; there is no online component.
–> As this is an in-person event, the number of available places is limited.
–> You will need your own laptop. The software will be provided.

If you are interested in attending the school, we would be happy to receive your application via mail. Please confirm that you are able to attend the entire school, that you are a ReNewPV member, and provide a brief statement about your scientific background and why you want to apply X-Ray diffraction in your research (three to five sentences are sufficient).

The deadline for application is the 16th of February 2026. Later applications cannot be considered.
